How much does an electrician cost in the GTA?

Common jobs sit in predictable bands — outlet installs from $145, panel upgrades from $2,450 including the ESA permit. You approve the exact figure in writing before we pick up a tool.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. HVAC Electrical Services Inc. is a licensed Electrical Contractor with the Electrical Safety Authority (ECRA/ESA #7011234), carries $5,000,000 in general liability insurance, and every electrician on site is WSIB covered. We're happy to email the certificates before your appointment.

We run a genuine 24/7 emergency line — a licensed electrician answers, not a call centre. Overnight, weekend and holiday callouts are dispatched from stocked service vehicles across the GTA, with an average arrival time of 47 minutes.

Can you come the same day?

In most cases yes. Bookings placed before 12 PM are usually attended the same day, and we hold emergency capacity on every shift. You'll get a text with your electrician's name, photo and live ETA once dispatched.

What warranty do you provide?

All workmanship carries a 2-year warranty, and manufacturer warranties on supplied parts are registered in your name. If something we installed misbehaves inside that window, we return at no charge.

Do I need an ESA permit for my project?

Ontario requires an ESA notification for most new circuits, panel changes, rewiring and service upgrades. We file the permit, schedule the inspection and hand you the Certificate of Acceptance — it's built into the quoted price, never an add-on.

Can you install a Level 2 EV charger?

Yes, and it's one of our most requested jobs. We perform the load calculation required by the Canadian Electrical Code, install a dedicated 40–60A circuit, mount and commission the charger, and prepare any rebate documentation you're eligible for.

How long does a panel upgrade take?

A typical 100A to 200A residential upgrade is a one-day job. Power is off for roughly four to six hours while the service is changed over, and the ESA inspection usually follows within a few business days.

Why do my breakers keep tripping?

A breaker that trips repeatedly is doing its job — it's reporting a real problem. Usually it's an overloaded circuit, a failing appliance, moisture in an exterior receptacle, or a degraded breaker. Never wire around it; we'll trace the actual cause with thermal imaging and a clamp meter.

Is knob-and-tube wiring dangerous?

It has no ground conductor, its insulation embrittles with age, and it fails badly when buried in modern insulation. Most Ontario insurers now refuse or surcharge homes that still have it. We stage rewires room by room so you can stay living in the house.

Yes — remodel-rated LED housings go into existing drywall with precision hole saws and minimal patching. We plan the layout with you first so the beam spread and spacing look deliberate rather than accidental.

Will you protect my home while working?

Floor protection, drop sheets and boot covers come out of the truck before the tools do, and we vacuum before we leave. Dust from drilling is captured at source with HEPA extraction.

Do you offer whole-home surge protection?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Type 2 surge protective device at the panel defends everything downstream — furnace boards, heat pumps, appliances and electronics. It's an inexpensive install that typically pays for itself the first time the grid hiccups.

Can you help with a home inspection deficiency list?

That's a routine job for us. Send the inspector's report, and we'll return a line-by-line quote separating genuine safety issues from cosmetic notes, then correct and certify the work.

Quotes for planned work — panel upgrades, rewires, lighting design, EV chargers — are free. For fault-finding, the $89 diagnostic fee covers the electrician's time to trace the problem properly, and it's credited against the repair.

What payment methods do you accept?

Credit card, debit, e-transfer and cheque for commercial accounts. Larger projects can be staged with milestone payments, and financing is available on service upgrades over $2,500.
